Scar Therapy
Scar and burns therapy is a gentle, specialist treatment designed to support healing, comfort and movement after surgery, injury or burns. Scars are a natural part of the body’s repair process, but sometimes the tissue can become tight, raised, sensitive, numb or restricted. It may also attach to deeper layers beneath the skin, known as adhesions, which can create pulling, tugging or tight sensations.
This therapy works with the scar and the surrounding tissues to help improve softness, flexibility and tissue glide. It can be helpful for both new and older scars, especially where there is discomfort, reduced movement, sensitivity or a feeling that the skin is being pulled from underneath.
For burns, scar therapy can support areas where the skin feels tight, fragile, sensitive or less able to stretch. This can be particularly important when burn scars are near joints or areas of regular movement, where restriction may affect comfort and mobility.
Scar therapy is not only about how a scar looks. It is also about how it feels and how freely the surrounding tissues can move. Treatment is gentle, tailored to you and focused on helping you feel more comfortable, confident and connected with your body again.
Scar therapy may be used for:
- Post-surgery recovery
- Post cosmetic surgery
- Burn scars and skin tightness after burns
- Caesarean section scars
- Abdominal, pelvic or keyhole surgery scars
- Adhesions or restricted tissue under the skin
- Tightness, pulling, tugging or discomfort around a scar
- Numbness, sensitivity, itching or tenderness
- Raised, firm or thickened scar tissue
- Reduced movement or flexibility around the scar area
- Older scars that still feel tight, uncomfortable or restricted
